1.071a download?
« on: April 10, 2013, 07:47:54 AM »
Hey Jim, do you still have 1.071a available for download? I'd like to get my hands on an image prior to the 3.8.5 kernel update. I have a couple of older model Dell's here that won't load the sta, lpphy or b43 driver. Jockey logs states that the kernel version (3.8.5) is not compatible.

Models I'm having problems with (lspci -nn | grep 0280 results):
Dell Latitude D531 (Broadcom BCM4312 802.11b/g LP-PHY [14e4:4315]
Dell Latitude 2100 (Broadcom BCM4322 802.11b/g/n [14e4:432b]

Thanks! :)

1.071a is at https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B52M_cKAX2ARWWoxczlWbmR6TlU/edit?usp=sharing . b43 is still there, so might be worth a shot to try but you'll probably need firmware to get it to load.

  • Open a terminal (ctrl-alt-t)
  • Type sudo apt-get install firmware-b43-installer
  • Type sudo modprobe -r b43
  • Type sudo modprobe b43

Might also need to reboot before it will actually work - not sure, though, since I don't have anyting here to test.

Thanks Jim! 1.071 with the firmware works! No more kernel errors!

Added a custom package for the Broadcom driver to the ubermix repository that works very reliably with ubermix's newer kernel - appears to solve most problems with older Broadcom cards. To install it, follow the updated instructions at http://wiki.ubermix.org/page/Broadcom_Wireless
