chnging the host name

i changed both /etc/hosts and /etc/hostname but it resets after reboot. evn tried it in generic mode so am stuck on changing my netbooks hostname according to the number they have engraved on.

Hello,

There is now a feature in the USB key to update the hostname. After you install Ubermix, press 5 to go to expert options, then choose option 5 from the expert menu. You can then type in a hostname and reboot.

tried that but not working for me changed all the "system" entries to what i want but after reboot still no change and i checked the file still had my changes though.

tried removing the script that changes the host name on boot and edited both hosts and hostname files but not working tried the num 5 option that did not do it aswell. pls help

Reset the device after you make the change. Your manual changes from before are still in effect. See http://ubermix.org/basics.html for instructions.
