Acer V5-131 Intel sound issues
« on: May 17, 2013, 01:36:49 PM »
My sound device shows as "dummy output"???  Tried a few things (switch to ALSA, which sees the intel soundcard but still no sound.

Any ideas?

I've seen this once before, but never on that model, and the problem went away with a reset. Try opening a terminal and then do an lsmod to see loaded modules. Do you see a "snd_hda_intel" in the list?

I know you are using multi-user login - could be a groups issue. Try adding the user to the audio group.

Once I booted to generic it worked, thought a restore might do the trick... sorta:  generic kernel works, aufs does not.

I may start from scratch again.  If not something with the kernel, that could at least let me know if this this is a self-inflicted wound or not.

And...  I am a moron.  Or I must be.  I could swear the user I created was in the audio group.  I was wrong.  Need to test again from factory restore and make sure that the local user is still in audio group.
