Error - Failed to download package files (check your internet connections)

Hello,

Finally got ubermix installed after a long struggle.  Now, when I try to install new programs, it keeps telling me I need to check my internet connection.  I can browse the internet just fine, and the connection appears stable.  Can you download software onto ubermix?

Update:  I just closed my other laptop before copying the error details, which I am sure would have helped in this case.

Sounds like the software index hasn't updated yet. Quickest way to force an update is to open Synaptic Package Manager and click the "Reload" button. You can also open a terminal (shortcut: ctrl-alt-t) and type "sudo apt-get update".
