My sound device shows as "dummy output"
Tried a few things (switch to ALSA, which sees the intel soundcard but still no sound.
Any ideas?

How-to / Enable right-click for touchpads

Ran into this, actually a pretty simple fix...
Create a directory (/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d
Create 51-clickpad.conf and insert the following:
Section "InputClass"
Identifier "Default clickpad buttons"
MatchDriver "synaptics"
Option "SoftButtonAreas" "50% 0 82% 0 0 0 0 0"
#Next 3 items added just for the HP Mini to better control the clickpad
Option "LockedDrags" "1"
Option "BottomEdge" "4000"
Option "AreaBottomEdge" "4445"
EndSection
save the file, and restart lightdm
Don't forget to do this on the generic partition

I did install it. It fixed the initial problem with very dim display. Oddly enough the controls do not work.

General Support / Acer V5 screen goes white?

Just about got our image ready for production. Noticing that when left alone the screen goes white. Does not appear to have xscreensaver or anything similar installed (which is fine - they suck up power). I can foresee this being a complaint post-deployment. Any ideas what I should be looking for to fix this? I need to upload the image to CDW asap to ensure arrival before June 30 :/

For users that already have logged in to another linux system their menu bars still show up on the side...
Where is that setting actually located? I may have to do some login/logoff scripting to move those dirs so new ones get created from /etc/skel or something like that. Or I batch remove them from the server...
We have a fair number of somewhat vanilla 10.04 lts systems, and those are the users that appear to have this issue. so thinking what I'm hunting for is in .config or one of the other dot-file directories.

Hardware Specific / Acer V5-131 brightness very low

Cannot get the brightness level to stick. When it boots the screen goes very dim. Any thoughts on how to remedy this?

having a similar issue on a new acer v5 netbook. I'm re-downloading and recreating the key but given this is a win8 home system, wondering if I have some additional UEFI garbage to disable.

Having some issues with the launcher - I'm sure this is a rookie mistake and I think I've dealt with it before but for the life of me cannot remember what the solution was.
Menu bar shows on the side, not the top, and when I scroll past the last visible item, the whole thing disappears and all I have left is top menu. No more launcher items.
