Hardware Specific / Re: Fail to install fresh Ubermix 2.0 on Asus X201E
« on: October 02, 2014, 09:27:43 AM »
Hey Jim, I've been trying to get our 201E's working with a 2.03 key and we've still had no luck. I'm using the create legacy partition map option prior to imaging, then imaging with option 1 and formating the home partition but still no boot...Oddly enough if I choose to not format the home partition then it boots just fine, however I'm obviously missing the separate home partition then...

General Support / Kernel Update
« on: October 01, 2014, 03:26:51 PM »
Hey Jim, do you have a download available for the kernel in 1.4? I'm currently on 3.8.5-41 and were having some wireless stability issues that I'd like to test on a later kernel. When imaging a problematic machine with the 1.4 base the wireless issues go away, so I was hoping to load the kernel up and not have to build a new base...

Thanks, that seems to have fixed it. Now just to get auto-updates working...

Just noticed this...While capturing the image in VB I received an error saying "split: /root/base_image.gz.aa: No space left on device. It's a 4Gb thumb drive...Also received error on an 8Gb freshly imaged with the 2.02 base...

Hey Jim, anyway you can let us know how to plug this into a current 2.02 build? I've got a base built around that already in VB and would like to add the legacy partition map option as we too have X201E's with this problem...

In the meantime I've been trying to get chrome working with unattended upgrades, however I'm also running into roadblocks there as well. I've set it up per this page: http://askubuntu.com/questions/64318/how-can-i-enable-silent-automatic-updates-for-google-chrome however I still have no succes...actually unattended ugrades don't run at all whether it's Chrome or Ubuntu updates...

Also configured /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/10periodic and set the appropriate apt configuration options:

APT::Periodic::Update-Package-Lists "1";
APT::Periodic::Download-Upgradeable-Packages "1";
APT::Periodic::AutocleanInterval "7";
APT::Periodic::Unattended-Upgrade "1";

Now for the next problem. After building my base image and booting to the CD and capturing on my thumbdrive, I am not able to boot a machine that I imaged with that drive. It's my base Aspire v5-131. The image I worked with was the 64-bit Ubermix 2.0. No errors were present during imaging, although it did go super fast. Not really sure what the problem is actually since everything appears to work great.

You would be correct. Thanks for the guidance!

Anyone have any suggestions on getting Ubermix 2.0 to load into virtual box?

Jim, I've been trying to load Ubermix through a USB key into virtual box to start building my image, however everytime I go to image my virtual machine after booting from a cd/iso I get a bunch of "Unable to open /dev read-write" errors, then no imaging occurs. I've tried different types of virtual disks and ensured I have read-write permissions to the directory. What am I missing?

I've been having the same problem with this model on Ubermix 2.0. I've tried with a customized base and just a straight 2.02 download and load. I haven't seen anyplace in the BIOS to disable/enable secure boot. I've tried booting to the thumb drive VIA UEFI and without. Any other input?

It'd be nice to see these in Ubermix 2.0...

General Discussion / Ubermix 2.0 on 32-bit
« on: June 19, 2014, 11:34:13 AM »
Any news on getting Ubermix Lite working on 32-bit machines? I have some 1011cx netbooks that won't boot to a thumb drive failing with only detecting an i686 processor.

Q&A / SBAC on Unbermix 2.0
« on: June 17, 2014, 02:01:03 PM »
Anyone tried running the SBAC ubermix package or installing straight from SBAC on Ubermix 2.0? No luck on getting it to run. Thinking it's a 64-bit to 32-bit issue, however ia32-libs are no longer available for this...
