General Support / Kernel Update
« on: October 01, 2014, 03:26:51 PM »
Hey Jim, do you have a download available for the kernel in 1.4? I'm currently on 3.8.5-41 and were having some wireless stability issues that I'd like to test on a later kernel. When imaging a problematic machine with the 1.4 base the wireless issues go away, so I was hoping to load the kernel up and not have to build a new base...

It'd be nice to see these in Ubermix 2.0...

General Discussion / Ubermix 2.0 on 32-bit
« on: June 19, 2014, 11:34:13 AM »
Any news on getting Ubermix Lite working on 32-bit machines? I have some 1011cx netbooks that won't boot to a thumb drive failing with only detecting an i686 processor.

Q&A / SBAC on Unbermix 2.0
« on: June 17, 2014, 02:01:03 PM »
Anyone tried running the SBAC ubermix package or installing straight from SBAC on Ubermix 2.0? No luck on getting it to run. Thinking it's a 64-bit to 32-bit issue, however ia32-libs are no longer available for this...

Hardware Specific / Aspire V5-131 SD Card Reader
« on: October 24, 2013, 07:22:51 AM »
We ordered some Aspire V5's in recently and thought everything was well with them..that is until we had some users try the SD card slot. The slot works...when you put the card in and then start up. If you insert a card while the machine is running nothing mounts.

I've determined it's an issue with the BCM57765 chip being seen as a PCI device. It's an always on/never on situation from my understanding. I tried loading the drivers from Broadcom's site compiled against my kernel (3.8.5-41) but received nothing but "expected" errors.

Funny thing is the card works wonderful when the NIC is plugged in (because the BCM57765 is a combo NIC/SD chip).

HELP!

Hardware Specific / Ubermix on a macbook
« on: June 07, 2013, 07:01:55 AM »
Any ideas on how to get a macbook to boot off of our Ubermix thumbdrives? I've tried custom builds and fresh downloads from Jim with no luck. When booting the mac I use the option key to bring up the boot menu, but USB isn't even a choice...

General Support / Another ? - New topic needed
« on: April 10, 2013, 07:55:18 AM »
So Jim, how is it that you port your images over to .ova's for virtual box usage? My teachers love the VB portion of our classroom integration, however it's a lot of work on my part making a new ova to match our customized Ubermix install every time I update them.

Any help would be appreciated!

General Support / 1.071a download?
« on: April 10, 2013, 07:47:54 AM »
Hey Jim, do you still have 1.071a available for download? I'd like to get my hands on an image prior to the 3.8.5 kernel update. I have a couple of older model Dell's here that won't load the sta, lpphy or b43 driver. Jockey logs states that the kernel version (3.8.5) is not compatible.

Models I'm having problems with (lspci -nn | grep 0280 results):
Dell Latitude D531 (Broadcom BCM4312 802.11b/g LP-PHY [14e4:4315]
Dell Latitude 2100 (Broadcom BCM4322 802.11b/g/n [14e4:432b]

Thanks! :)

Hardware Specific / Asus X201e Wireless
« on: February 25, 2013, 06:59:57 AM »
We're playing around with the new X201E from Asus, and while everything seems to be working (except on-board nic but a new driver fixed that  ;)), the wireless is only reporting 56Mbps over N. Is this another driver issue or is this card not capable of full speed N?

And and off topic question...A few of my teachers have asked if we can incorporate some kind of side-by-side window switch like in Ubuntu Unity (chrome goes to each half when dragged and dropped). Any possibility with Ubermix?

Jim/anyone else,

I was finalizing our custom Ubermix image that we will be using for our Cedar Trail devices. Everything was working wonderfully on the base machine so I captured it. When I applied the freshly captured image to another 1011CX strange things happened. Firstly, the power icon that is driven by the indicator-power package appears then disappears constantly, but only when plugged into power. When on battery it functions as expected. As soon as a power adapter touches the machine the icon will disappear, only to re-appear a second or two later. It continues this until you unplug it.

The other issue we are seeing is with wireless connectivity. My base machine was able to connect to our two SSID's we have in our district without a problem. The test machine is not able to connect  to whatever wireless I had as default. It will connect to the other network without a problem though.

Ideas?
