Q&A / Re: Editing chrome policies files
« on: May 27, 2015, 01:19:44 PM »
It's also works for me.
Boot into "generic" mode, so all the changes will be saved.
In a terminal, do this:
1) sudo mkdir /etc/opt/chrome/policies/managed
2) sudo mkdir /etc/opt/chrome/policies/recommended
3) sudo chmod -w /etc/opt/chrome/policies/managed
4)cd into the managed directory, then
5) touch test_policy.json
then, edit the file
sudo nano test_policy.json
my json file looks like this:
{
   "HomepageIsNewTabPage": false,
   "ShowHomeButton": true,
   "SafeBrowsingEnabled": true,
   "PasswordManagerEnabled": true,
   "HomepageLocation": "http://www.esaa.edu.ar"
}
Pay attention to the json format, don't forget the "," separators.
In chrome, type chrome://policy/, and it will show all your changes.
The homepage setting on chrome is weird, they want you to login at google first....

This soft it's amazing. It's was developed between teachers, and Computer Science professionals. Kids develops games in 2-3 hs, and it's working great, lots of users adopting it.
It's a great way to introduce kids into programing.

Hardware Specific / Re: Single Board Computer
« on: April 18, 2015, 05:09:58 AM »
Ubermix is a x68 based ubuntu distribution. If there is a large base of users requesting it, maybe Jim will port it.
But using a system like ubermix is not against the raspberry pi "philosophy" ? It's a computer to build, test, reconfigure, and to analiyze multiple hardware -  software configurations.
Also, RP 1 is very hardware limited. Ubermix 2 or 1.5 will be too slow. I read some reports on RP2 being just good for normal use, but i don't know.

General Support / Re: Ubermix 1.5 netbook-launcher-efl problem
« on: April 09, 2015, 01:18:25 PM »
I found a simple solution. Add another icon to favorites, the rest of the menues will switch to 2 column mode. Tested on 1.2 and 1.5 Ubermix  :D

Try increasing your base partiton a few more megabytes. I'm using 1.5 now, but adding 500 Mb helped me a lot

« on: April 04, 2015, 09:18:04 PM »
Hi, i having this problem: all my icons are show in 1 column, lot of wasted space.
I changed the theme to classic, then to nouveau, nouveau-hd but nothing works, it doesnt use all the available space.
This is the original ubermix image

And this is my customized one. Any idea about how to restore the 2 columns on the launcher ?  Thanks

Same problem. I'm thinking about dropping chrome and using midori browser, chrome is gettint more and more bloated, my low spec netbooks cry for more disc and ram.

512 Mb is just too little.
1.8x, the last one before the new 2.0x update, will work
