Title: Travelmate B115 Touchpad
Post by: dhicks on May 20, 2015, 08:12:19 PM
Group......

I'm running Ubermix 2.21 with updates installed on a group of Travelmate B115-M computers.  I've set the touchpad to basic in the BIOS to allow the right-click to work.  We are now seeing a situation where the mouse begins to jump all over the screen.......even with your hand removed completely from the unit.  At times the mouse will settle down enough to try clicking again, but overall, the behavior returns and makes the unit unusable.  Has anyone seen this behavior?

Thanks very much.

Same problem here for some of our B115 M's, but was a huge problem before on the 2.11 version, late last year. Strangely though not all computers have the same severity of the problem.  Kids mostly turn the mouse pad off and use external. Also we don't need to do BIOS changes for the right click to work. I've heard that is an issue with the newer 3.16 kernel.

Looking forward to the June 2.22 release to make our B115 experience even better.

The "jumping all over the screen" issue is usually a bad touchpad or a bad connection inside the machine. First thing to try is the connection, which can be easily reseated by removing the bottom panel. If that doesn't work, replacing the touchpad typically does the trick.

FYI, if you want to upgrade the BIOS to 1.26, we built a usb key that will automatically do it for you. You have to switch the BIOS to Legacy mode for it to work, however, then reset everything to UEFI per the instructions on the wiki page.
