Hi Jnetman1,
sorry for the delay, here is the fdisk -l output:

Disk /dev/sda: 320.1 GB, 320072933376 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 38913 cylinders, total 625142448 sectors
Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
Disk identifier: 0xa8d6f410

Device Boot      Start         End      Blocks   Id  System
/dev/sda1   *        2048   209717247   104857600    7  HPFS/NTFS/exFAT

/dev/sda6       436488192   623009791    93260800   83  Linux

Partition table entries are not in disk order

As you can see, sda4 is the extended partition, which contains sda6 and sda5 in that order.

Thank you both for your replies,
The problem is Windows came on the netbook pre-installed - and I don't want to lose it.

The disk already had 4 primary partitions (max), so I had to delete one (a simple ASUS OS that I wouldn't use) and then resize the windows 'D' drive and make that an extended partition, so I could then add logical partitions.  I have Ubuntu installed in these logical partitions (/ and linux swap)

I suppose I could try running ubermix in a virtual machine to try it, but I really want to make use of the hardware specific Cedar Trail support in the 0.915 CT version.

I have found on the Ubuntu forum instructions for building a 3.3.2 kernel with graphics (GMA 3600) support for Cedar Trail - which I have followed and it works, but there are a number of issues which all seem to have been fixed in ubermix change log - so I would really like to have ubermix instead of ubuntu !

The problem is how do I install it without losing Windows ?..

How-to / Can I install alongside Windows?

Hello,
I have an ASUS 1025C netbook (has Cedar Trail processor) and I would like to try ubermix (0.915 CT version).  At the moment I have the netbook configured with a dual boot - so I can boot Windows or ubuntu.
Since the standard ubuntu installation does not yet support Cedar Trail,  I have been trying to find a distribution that works correctly on my netbook.  I found ubermix when searching for solutions.

However, I see that for simplicity of installation - there is no option to install to a particular partition etc.  like you get with a standard ubuntu install.  I am by no means an expert with this - is it possible to perform the installation to a particular partition and have a grub menu to select windows / ubermix at startup ?

If not, is there a way to get an ubuntu that has the Cedar Trail fixes that Ubermix has ?
Thanks in advance for any help.
