Be sure to test it fully on your target devices - I've had mixed results.

ubermix 2.0 will have LMMS and Jokosher. I'll look at musescore as well - thanks for the suggestion!

It sounds like there were errors mounting the key, so it went read only. Did you use a big enough key? 1.4 is slightly larger than prior versions, so it needs a key that is larger than 2 Gb.

This is a newer version of the package. Give it a try and let me know if it works for you.

Did you just buy Cedartrail netbooks? Which model? Make sure you do the Cedartrail fix http://wiki.ubermix.org/page/Cedar_Trail_Devices for the video, and the brightness fix should work.

That should do it.

Yep, 701s aren't big enough for the latest. If you download the "1.05 small" version it *might* install.

Huh. Grub shouldn't have updated itself - that's kindof a surprise. In any event, boot the machine up, open a terminal (ctrl-alt-t) and type "sudo /etc/kernel/postinst.d/zzz-mk-aufs-kernel $(uname -r)" to fix it.

That model uses an AMD Fusion processor, so you have a proprietary video card. Version 1.4 may work out of the box - it has a newer kernel that might drive it without modification. If not, try opening a terminal (ctrl-alt-t) and type "sudo jockey-gtk" to see if it finds the proprietary driver.

Plug in wired and use Synaptic Package Manager to install bcmwl-kernel-source. Alternatively, open a terminal (ctrl-alt-t) and type "sudo apt-get install bcmwl-kernel-source"

Q&A / Re: WIndows domain
« on: November 30, 2013, 11:29:25 AM »
I've generally found it easiest to teach the kids to connect to their server shares on their own. All they have to do is open any folder and choose File:Connect to server... A whole lot easier than trying to join the domain, etc.

I would bet the issue with other machines has something to do with joining the machine to the domain - you probably don't want to do any of the authentication work on your master system prior to imaging it.

If you decide to work on this and are able to get it all sorted out, please update the wiki for us  :)

Try downloading the older ubermix 1.08x on that system. The newer Xorg (display) server in 1.3+ seems to have some issues with really old devices.

Hardware Specific / Re: Connecting Dell 1710

I would try choosing the Laserjet 4 driver. It's pretty generic and tends to work well with older printers. You could also try downloading and converting the Dell drivers for Red Hat 4. To do this, download the rpm file from the Dell web site, then open a terminal and:

sudo alien --scripts Downloads/print-drivers-linux-glibc2-x86.rpm

(Might have to install alien first). This will give you a deb package (drivers-dellprtdrv_5.3.1-2_i386.deb) that you can install by double-clicking on it or using "dpkg -i drivers-dellprtdrv_5.3.1-2_i386.deb". Once you install it, you have to open a terminal again and type:

sudo /usr/local/dell/setup.dellprint

To complete the setup. This will leave you with a "Dell Print Drivers" icon in System Tools. I can't get any further than opening the app, as I don't have one of these printers.

Good luck!

Just posted ubermix 1.32 with a kernel and xserver update. Might just do the trick.

Try opening a terminal and

sudo apt-get purge xserver-xorg-video-modesetting-lts-raring

then reboot and see if it's better.
