Hardware Specific / Dell Latitude D610 with Broadcom 430x wifi issues and looking for alternatives

We have several Dell Latitude D610's that have been repurposed and/or resurrected thanks to Ubermix, but I have tried utilizing Dell provided and Broadcom drivers to get wifi functioning following http://wiki.ubermix.org/page/Broadcom_Wireless as guidance due to the laptops having Dell 1450 Dual Band WIFI(Broadcom 430x)Mini-pci adapters, but cannot get them installed at all.
At this point I am looking for a newer wireless adapter in mini-pci or usb form that works "out of the box" so to speak or install without much headache. I have found some wireless usb adapters based on Realtek's RTL8188 which is encompassed under the RTL8192CU driver on Monoprice.com which are under $10 each. If these could work I am for it. Does anyone have an idea whether these would work based on the RTL8188 chipset? If not could someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks!
Cruz
