Jim. Midterm break is near, so in a few days i will have more time for tests.
I'm evaluating my options. Going into lxde debian for the old nets it's one, but i will miss the ubermix recovery options, and the update script.
I love MATE desktop (the main developer is from my country) but it feels a little more sluggish on the old hardware.Anyway, i have to test it seriously before release.
Thank's for all the support!

Hardware Specific / Fail to install Ubermix 2.02L on Intel N2600
« on: June 27, 2014, 02:36:05 PM »
Hi! The image installs, but after a reboot, it's end on EFI SHELL.
There is no "legacy BIOS" setting on the BIOS  setup.
Also, i did an advanced install, setting BASE and USER space. Same results.
Thanks,
Juan

Hardware Specific / Intel microcode update
« on: March 28, 2014, 03:18:14 PM »
Hi!, my netbooks are reporting this:
Atom PSE erratum detected, BIOS microcode update recommended

I tried to update the microcode following an ArchWiki tutorial, but the PSE module is disabled on boot.
BIOS update isn't possible, the factory never answered my emails about an update.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
Juan

Ubermix is based on ubuntu. Currently, there is no port of ubuntu to ARM devices, so it's not possible to use it.

I changed the pendrives and everything went fine. It was a 8 GB one. I will try to get some new pendrives, all my KIngston 8 gb are becoming faulty, maybe it's a usb port problem in my pc or just a bad batch.
Thanks Jim

Hardware Specific / Re: Cedar trail / Intel N2600 ...
« on: February 23, 2014, 04:08:36 PM »
All the netbooks being sold in my country are based on Intel N2600, so it was the only hardware available.
Everything is slower....boot times, shutdown time, UI performance. Cannot believe that a bad driver hurts so much a new chipset.
The fix must be applied to the latest version of ubermix ? or i must choose the old one that gives me the best performance ?
Thanks
Juan

Hardware Specific / Cedar trail / Intel N2600 ...
« on: February 21, 2014, 02:30:49 PM »
My school just bougth some new laptops, and the hardware is really bad.
After trying ubermix 1.4, the performance is horrible. Couldn't install the propietary drivers, and a lot of problems (really slow performance, no brigthness, etc etc).
Is it worth to use it with new ubermix versions?
Thanks

Hi!, i'm using TLP ( http://linrunner.de/en/tlp/tlp.html) since last year in my personal laptop. (old dell withn xubuntu). I'm very happy with it, and planning to install in my customized ubermix image for the kids.
Any suggestions ? i'm testing it in a couple of days, but if anyone has tried it, the feedback would be great.
Thanks,
Juan
