Dell 2100/2110/2120
Cisco 1142N Wireless APs, gigabit infrastructure
This has been an ongoing issue with Ubermix for many versions. In a cart there are always 1/4 or more of the Netbooks that will not connect. They say they cannot detect any wireless networks and ask to confirm the wireless network password. Sometimes after restarting they connect or if you wait 5 minutes or so. You can get a few going, but once you start bringing a whole cart into the fray there are always a few that drop off.
Troubleshooting steps:
-Updated Ubermix as new versions came out
-Installed the drivers for Broadcom recommended here recently and on the Ubuntu forums (1-2 years ago)
-Had a consultant company that is a Cisco gold partner and has installed hundreds of Cisco Wireless deployments look over our network. Changes made to improve AP deployment.
-APs were VLANed by building
-Upgraded firewall, core switch, gig switches network wide
We also have Windows laptop carts, Mac laptop carts, and a Chrome cart. The network improvements helped those devices, but they do not have 1/10 the network issues of the Ubermix Dell Netbooks. We have a handful of Windows XP Dell 2100 series netbooks, but they do not have network issues like these.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to go about resolving these network issues? Is it a hardware limitation?
